Carl E. Buddeau Carl E. Buddeau died May 9, 2008, at age 71. Carl E Buddeau was born Feb. 9, 1937, in Portland. He graduated from Lake Oswego High School and served in the Oregon Air National Guard for 38 years. He married JoAnn Newland in the late 1950's; they divorced. In 1961, he married Janet Hubbard. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Julie A. Link; stepson, RAndal W. Wirth; and four grandchildren. Service pending. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 1996, in the Portland Christian Center for Douglas Reid Galash, who died June 9 of arteriosclerosis heart disease at age 43. Mr. Galash was born June 11, 1952, in Portland. He married Rita P. Forsman in 1975. He served in the Oregon Air National Guard for 17 years and was a purchasing agent for the Portland Housing Authority. Mr. Galash was on the Gladstone City Counsel from 1991 to 1994. He served on the Gladstone Planning Commission from 1987 to 1991 and was commission chairman in 1990 and 1991. Survivors include his wife, and daughter, Stephanie L. of Gladstone. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery. |
Paul E. Goodman, 65, of Warrenton, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, in Astoria. He was born April 11, 1945, in Portland, to Lloyd Wilford and Jenni (Kelly) Goodman. His parents preceded him in death. He graduated from high school in Ridgefield, Wash., and took three courses in safety for the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Goodman served in the Oregon National Guard and the Oregon Air Guard for 27 years. He received numerous military awards. He took a leave of absence from 1975 to 1987 to run propane transports. He returned to Camp Rilea and worked in post supply then supply for the State Department until he retired in 2005. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the Seaside Elks Lodge. He spent 14 years doing Wishing Tree and Christmas baskets, and donated to the Oregon State Sheriffs Association. Friends said he was an avid hunter. He is survived by a godson, Chris Whitworth of Knappa; and many friends. Inurnment was at Fairview Cemetery in Scappoose. George Hindle retired with the rank of Master Sergeant, Oregon Air National Guard, as a Material Control Specialist. He was a D-Day survivor who went ashore with the Army on Normandy in one of the initial waves at Omaha Beach. George was 60 years old when he retired from the 116th Tactical control Squadron. |
George Arthur Hindle A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday June 16, 1998, in Zeller Chapel of the Roses for George Arthur Hindle, who died June 10 at age 75. Mr Hindle was born May 11, 1923, in Portland. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II and in the Air National Guard until retiring as a master sergeant after 26 years of military service. He was a technician for Pacific Northwest Bell, which became US West, for 35 years before retiring in 1984. He married Lois Brant in 1950. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Leslie Konae of Seattle and Debbie Stewart of Kent, Wash.; son Rick of Portland; and four grandchildren. Two sons died earlier, Doug in 1974 and David in 1983. Private interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. |

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Willamette National Cemetery for Charles W. Longstreth, who died July 22 at age 59. Mr. Longstreth was born Aug. 2, 1937 in Rochester, N.Y., and raised in New Jersey and Connecticut. He served in the Air Force for 10 years, and moved in 1972 to Portland, where he was a civilian technician for the Oregon Air National Guard for about 20 years. He was a volunteer arts and crafts supervisor at Camp Rosenbaum at CAmp Rilea for 15 years. He moved to Fairview in 1996. In 1998 he married Sandy Roren. Survivors include his wife; sons, Paul and Timothy; stepdaughter, Debbie Porter; stepsons, Justin Johnson and Nathaniel Porter; sister, Joyce Bromps; brother, Emory; and two grandchildren. Arrangements by Mt. Scott. |
A memorial service will be at noon Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, in Hilltop Community Church in Oregon City for Richard Anthony Maenza, who died Nov. 4 of cancer at age 63. Mr. Maenza was born June 24, 1943, in New York City. He served in the Air Force. In 1974, he moved to Portland. He was a jet engine mechanic for the Oregon Air National Guard. In 2003, he married Trudy R. Kelm. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sarah Maenza, Paula Olin and Sandra Maenza; sister, Faye Peterson; brothers, Frank Jr. and Robert; and four grandchildren. Richard Anthony Maenza June 24, 1943-Nov. 4, 2006 Former East County resident Richard Anthony Maenza, 63, died of pancreatic cancer Saturday, Nov. 4. A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 17, at Hilltop Community Church, 592 Molalla Ave., Oregon City. Richard was born June 24, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Frank Maenza Sr. and Ann DeMaria. He was raised and educated in Brooklyn, where he graduated from Brooklyn High School of Automotive Trades in 1961. On Nov. 17, 1961, he enlisted in the Air Force. He served as the crew chief on a recognizance spy plane out of Forbes Air Force Base in Kansas. In 1966, he was transferred to a base in Minot, N.D., where he worked on B-52s and KC-135s. He was honorably discharged in 1966. After his discharge, Richard visited relatives in New York, and then moved to Virginia where he worked in a Euclid tractor plant. In 1967, he moved to Renton, Wash. He worked on the assembly lines at Boeing building 727s and 747s. He was laid off in 1970. Richard then moved back to New York, where he managed a cheese and grommet shop until 1973. He later moved to New Hampshire where he studied business and airport management at Nathaniel Hawthorn College. In 1974, he moved to Fairview and joined the Air National Guard. The following year, he moved to Troutdale. He was hired as a full-time technician and promoted to staff sergeant in 1975. Richard continued to rise through the ranks, working in the engine shop and later as a supervisor. Richard retired from the Air National Guard in 2001, having attained the rank of senior master sergeant. He earned a number of military awards including the Air Force Achievement Medal, Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Airman of the Year Award and Unit Career Advisor of the Year Award. On Nov. 9, 2003, Richard married Trudy Kelm in Reno. Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Peterson; and brother, Frank Maenza Jr. Survivors include his daughters, Sarah Maenza of Portland, Paula Olin of La Center, Wash., and Sandra Maenza of Lincoln City; stepson, Matthew Kelm of Roseburg; stepfather, Pete DePrima of Basking Ridge, N.J.; brother, Robert Maenza of Apple Valley, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, in Warren Community Fellowship in Warren for Patrick C. Mattman, who died May 12 at age 64. Mr. Mattman was born June 10, 1939, in Portland. He graduated from David Douglas High School, served in the Army for four years and then served in the Oregon Air National Guard for 22 years. He had lived in Scappoose since 1974. In 1962, he married Beth Keep. A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Warren "Red" Miller, a retired master sergeant in the Oregon Air National Guard, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Hustad Funeral Home. Mr. Miller died of a brain tumor Sunday in his North Portland home at the age of 61. He was born July 18, 1931 in Aberdeen, Wash. He had lived in the Portland area for more than 50 years and married Patricia Ward on June 2, 1956, in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army for three years. He then spent 25 years in the Oregon Air National Guard until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Miller was actively involved in the Housing Authority of Portland's Camp Cody for a number of years. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Survivors in addition to his wife include his sons, James K. and Scott R., both of Portland, and Daniel R. of Enid Okla.; his mother, Vivian C. Miller, and brother, James R., both of Portland; and nine grandchildren. Internment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. |

Ralph Clarke Pickering Ralph Clarke Pickering died in his home July 30, 2000 in the presence of his wife and family. Mr. Pickering was born in Bell, California on Nov. 10, 1939. His family moved to Salem, Oregon in 1946 and to Woodburn, Oregon in 1949. He attended Lewis & Clark College obtaining two bachelor degrees and a minor degree in psychology. Clarke joined the U.S. Air Force in 1962, obtained officer status and spent one tour in Vietnam in the 1960s. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star medal. He later did undergraduate work in accounting and computer science and real estate at portland Start University in 1978. He joined the Air National Guard 116th Tactical Control Squadron in 1971 until March 1985 and retired in that year as Lt. Colonel Pickering. From 1986 until August of 1992, Mr. Pickering was employed as an Assistant Merchandising Manager with Fred Meyer Corporation. He then changed career fields to that of Long Term Care and became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and worked under the title of Assistant Administrator for Gracelen Terrace Long Term Care Facility until December 1999. Clarke is survived by his wife, Linda M. Pickering; mother, Blanche Pickering; brother, John W. Pickering; and daughter, Anna Pickering. His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Scott Funeral Home on August 4, 2000 followed by internment at Willamette National Cemetery. A reception at Gracelen Terrace will follow. |
Billy Joe Quinn A service with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Willamette National Cemetery for Billy Joe Quinn, who died Jan. 1 at age 54. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Grace Community Church in Gresham. Mr. Quinn was born Aug. 25, 1947, in Hillsboro. He graduated from Corbett High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and later the Oregon Air National Guard until retiring as command chief master sergeant in 1998, when he moved to Gresham. He then was chief of staff for the Portland Housing Authority. He was a past chairman of the Corbett School Board, and past president of the Northeast Multnomah County Community Association. In 1980, he married Lynne M. Gourley. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Brittany; sons, Barry, Brian and Brandon; brother, Douglas; and one grandchild.
