Biographical Sketch - Lt. Prestin

The present Commanding Officer of this Battalion, 1st Lt. Fred J. Prestin, 01634238, entered Army service 30 June 1941. His home is in Milwaukee and he had previously been in the employ of Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. He served as an enlisted instructor at the Fort Monmouth Signal Corp Post School until March 1942.

Lt. Prestin's first officer assignment was Station Censor, Station W.U.E., Fort Moltrie, Charleston, S.C. He then served as Battalion Executive Officer of the 577th, 571st and 584th SAW Bns., until 24 January 1944, when he took command of this Battalion, replacing Major Matthew J. Burrell.
