Biography of Captain Frank S. Wellings
Captain Frank S. Wellings assumed command of the 589th Signal AW Battalion 8 December 1943. His past military experience has been quite extensive and deserves some note in this report.
Captain Wellings served for seven months in World War I.
He joined the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1926 and remained a member of this outfit unit it was absorbed by A.U.S. in December 1941. He was a member of the 176th Field Artillery of the Pennsylvania national Guard when it was called into service 3 February 1941.
Captain Wellings came to Drew Field 14 March 1943 as a member of the 501st Signal AW Regiment. In August 1943 he was assigned to 553rd Signal AW Battalion. In November 1943 he was assigned to the 568th Signal AW Battalion.
8 December 1943 Captain Frank S. Wellings was assigned and assumed command of the 589th Signal AW Battalion bringing his military history up to date.
